A Golfer´s Diary …

Having lived in Spain for most of my life and now actually living on the Costa Del Golf , I have decided it is time to take the plunge and learn to play …
Like many others I have spoken to, I must admit that I am concerned about the high profile the game has here. Lots of glamorous tournaments and events. You will not find me there… not yet anyway!
So, I set off in search of a course where I would feel comfortable and not feel like people would be pointing their finger or telling me to hurry up and get out of their way! (I´m sure they wouldn’t actually say that but I would not want to give them the chance).
On meeting Gonzalo, the Director of Casares Costa Golf, I knew I had found the ideal place to begin my adventure.
Casares Costa Golf is a 9 hole course designed with the casual golfer in mind … and what is more their fees are a lot more affordable! They also have a great restaurant with a huge sun terrace … what more do you need to enjoy a game of golf!
Oops, back to the task in mind…
The objective of the course is to entertain, and it entertains. Its 9 holes are spread out with a varied design over the flat terrain of a valley and stand out for their fairways, on which precision is one of the keys to a good game.
With three par-3 holes and one par 5, the course offers golfers the possibility of playing all sorts of shots … and I´m sure I will be !
In the next issue I will let you know how my first lessons went. So far, I have been told to wear sports shoes , comfortable clothing, be ready to have fun and expect to hit a lot of air !?
My instructor will provide me with all the clubs and balls I need.
Apparently, it is unusual to manage to hit the ball more than 3 metres on your first day … let´s see!
