On the first day, God created the dog and said, “Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past.  For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.”

The dog said, “That’s a long time to be barking.  How about only ten years and I’ll give you back the other ten?”
So God agreed…..

On the second day, God created the monkey and said, “Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh.  For this, I’ll give you a twenty-year life span.”
The monkey said, “Monkey tricks for twenty years?  That’s a pretty long time to perform.  How about I give you back ten like the dog did?”
And God agreed……

On the third day, God created the cow and said, “You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer’s family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.”
The cow said, “That’s kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years.  How about twenty years and I’ll give back to you the other forty?”
And God agreed again……

On the fourth day, God created humans and said, “Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life.  For this, I’ll give you twenty years.”
But the human said, “Only twenty years?  Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?”
“Okay,” said God.  ”You asked for it.”

So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves.  For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family.  For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren.  And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

Now that the sun is shining and fiesta’s are looming its time to get out and about and what better occasion that this weekend’s craft fayre in GALERIAS PANIAGUA, SOTOGRANDE? There will be a variety of different stall’s promoting local crafts and businesses and the stalls are raising money for The Tramps Fund (reg 42) in Sotogrande which does extremely important and special work looking after stray dogs and cats in our area.

The fayre will open at 11am and close at 5.30pm, Pepe’s Cafe Bar will be serving refreshments and of course Mary will be selling her delectable pies and cakes. There will be Krafty Kids there to keep the children busy, pop into Glad Rags & The Book Angel for a FREE GLASS OF CAVA TOO!

Last weekend saw weeks of preparation finally come together in the 1^st Annual Children’s Fayre for L.I.V.E. Charity.

The sun was shining and the day was a phenomenal success, with approx 500 visitors, both local and holiday makers.  Families enjoyed the market stalls, the games, activities and entertainment and raised more than €2,000 for charity.

This day would not have been the huge success it was without the visitors and the generosity of those from the Costa del Sol community who gave up their time and donated services.

L.I.V.E. would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all those who made the day the great success it was. And a special mention to Marleen Gosselin from Andalusian Events for donating her time & expertise with the event co-ordination.

The Sentinella Costa West is a community magazine aimed at expats who have decided to move to Spain. It is distributed in the  Costa Del Sol  region of Spain (in the province of Malaga) covering the  West Coast of Malaga,  from Riveria del Sol to San Roque on the coast  and inland to Ronda. The Sentinella Costa West has been established for two years.
